Hi, my name is Trey Mathews.

I’m a versatile writer, editor, and UXer based in Cincinnati, Ohio.

 FAQ

  • I write to understand the world. My mind can be a cluttered place, so putting things on paper (or onto a screen) helps me to connect disparate ideas, processes complicated information, and better connect with the world around me.

  • My writing strengths lie mainly in skills of analysis. As you will see throughout this site, my best work comes about when I explore complicated subjects like the discourse of Black American identity from the Civil Rights Era to present, UX research analysis, and recontextualizing information for novel audiences.

  • I have worked quite a bit in the UX field. I would love to dive deeper into that world, or explore other facets of professional writing like journalism, technical writing, or instructional design.

  • I have a small obsession with apocalyptic sci-fi. Whether it’s books like Parable of the Sower or Cats Cradle, or movies like Children of Men or Interstellar, I love being transported into worlds like ours facing impossible situations. The character studies that ensue show the depths of humanity in ways I find incredibly moving.

  • For fun, I love to learn new software, read, watch movies, write, hike, and learn about anthropology. I’m also studying French and learning about design in my spare time.
